Report a bug

How to report a bug in Kinetra and what to include.

Found something that doesn’t work? Please tell us. A good report helps us fix it quickly.

  • Discord: post in the Kinetra community. Others may know a fix, and it’s a good place if you’re not sure whether it’s a bug.
  • Email: [email protected], for example if your report includes files you don’t want to share publicly.

For a security problem, don’t post on Discord. Email [email protected] with “Security” in the subject.

  1. What you did, step by step.
  2. What you expected to happen.
  3. What happened instead, with the exact error message if there was one.
  4. Version details from Preferences › About: Version, Channel and Commit.
  5. Your system: Windows or macOS and its version, and OBS or vMix with its version if they’re involved.
  6. The log file, if you can: in Preferences › About, click Open log folder and attach kinetra.log.
  7. A screenshot or short screen recording, if it helps show the problem.
  • Check that you’re on the latest version: Help › Check for updates….
  • Look at Troubleshooting for a known fix.
  • Remove anything private from logs and screenshots. Kinetra never writes API keys or passwords to its log.

If the problem is with a template, a copy of the template’s folder (from the project’s templates/ folder) helps us reproduce it.

Ideas are welcome too. Share them in Discord or by email, and describe the problem you’re trying to solve, not only the solution.
