Answers to frequently asked questions about Kinetra.

A desktop app for broadcast graphics: lower thirds, tickers, scoreboards, polls, media and live data. You design and control the graphics in Kinetra, and show them in OBS, vMix or any browser source, or fullscreen on a display.

Yes. The whole app and everything it does on your own computer is free, with no time limit. Kinetra is open source (AGPL-3.0). You need a free account to start it.

Paid plans (Pro and Team) add services that run on Kinetra’s servers: AI templates and live polls. See Accounts and plans.

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and macOS 11 or later (Apple silicon and Intel). See Install.

Mac support is early: display outputs, MIDI input and a few other features don’t work on a Mac yet. See Kinetra on macOS.

Yes. After the first sign-in, everything local works offline. Your license works for 30 days without a connection, and then 14 more days with limits. AI templates and live polls need the internet, because they run on Kinetra’s servers. See Working offline.

Which software can show Kinetra’s graphics?

Section titled “Which software can show Kinetra’s graphics?”

Anything that can show a web page as a source: OBS Studio, vMix, CasparCG and others. Kinetra can also show graphics fullscreen on a connected display. See Outputs.

Not directly. Use a browser source in OBS or vMix, or a display output on a video card that appears as a display.

No. Templates use the fonts that come with Kinetra, so every computer that shows your graphics shows the same thing. See the font list.

Yes. Start from a built-in template, describe one with AI templates, or write HTML and CSS yourself in Advanced mode. See Template format.

A project is a normal folder wherever you created it. It holds plain JSON, HTML and CSS files, plus your media. You can copy it, back it up, or put it in git. See Preferences › Advanced › Project location.

Copy the project folder, or use Preferences › Advanced › Move project…. To copy your preferences, shortcuts and MIDI mappings too, use File › Export › Settings file… and import it on the other computer. Secret API keys aren’t exported; enter them again.

Copy the template’s folder from one project’s templates/ folder to the other’s. Kinetra picks it up by itself.

Yes, with OSC or MIDI. See MIDI and OSC, Companion and Stream Deck and the Control API.

Section titled “Can I push data into Kinetra from my own software?”
